Professor Flynn teaches SOC 2143 Criminal Justice System: Arrest Through Appeal

Graduate of University of Notre Dame (B.A. in Government, cum laude), 1979, and University of Virginia School of Law (J.D.), 1982

Associate in Washington, D.C. law firms Butler and Binion, and Shaw,
Pittman, Potts and Trowbridge, 1982 to 1987
Served in United States Attorney’s Office, Washington, D.C., from
November 1987 to April 2023, primarily as a violent crime prosecutor
Served in multiple supervisory positions in the United States
Attorney’s Office, including as Chief Homicide Prosecutor and Chief
of the Felony Major Crimes Trial Section
Handled 97 jury trials, 27 of which were involved murder charges,
and was instrumental in dismantling multiple street gangs

Recipient of John E. Evans Award for outstanding advocacy, presented by the Assistant United States Attorneys Association, 1999
